
House of the Dragon returns with lives in jeopardy and battle lines drawn as the once-strong House Targaryen is split in two.
While King Aegon II sits upon the Iron Throne, Queen Rhaenyra plots her vengeance on the usurper as she prepares to fight for what she believes is rightly hers.
But both houses need support, not just dragons, in order to claim victory, and the noble houses of the Seven Kingdoms aren’t so easily won over.

Where to watch House of the Dragon in the UK
House of the Dragon seasons one and two are available to watch now.
Season three has been confirmed, but at the time of writing (August 2024) is yet to start filming.
Sky is the UK’s exclusive home of the entire Game of Thrones franchise, so it is not available on any other service.

Season 2 Episodes Recap
House of the Dragon season two is composed of eight episodes and picks up in the immediate aftermath of the season one finale.
With the first blood of the war officially shed, the once-strong House Targaryen is divided into two factions – the Green/Hightower-Targaryens and the Black/Velaryon-Targaryens, both of whom believe their leader is the true heir to the Iron Throne.
As Queen Rhaenyra takes up residence at Dragonstone with the Blacks, King Aegon II reigns from the Iron Throne in King’s Landing.

Episode 1: A Son for a Son
Prince Jacaerys arrives in the North to build an allyship with Cregan Stark at the Wall but is called home upon news of a heartbreaking tragedy.
Devastated by a loss, Rhaenyra flees Dragonstone. When she returns, she makes a command that Daemon decides to take too literally.
At King’s Landing, Alicent finds solace in an unlikely place as she struggles to keep her son Aegon in line and to take his duty seriously.
After reuniting with an old face, Daemon puts to work a plan for vengeance, but leaves it in the hands of people that cause it to go horrifically wrong.

Episode 2: Rhaenyra the Cruel
As news of an unimaginable tragedy spreads throughout King’s Landing, the Green Council seeks to use it to their advantage.
When Rhaenyra discovers she is being blamed for this unspeakable crime, she confronts the true person at fault.
King Aegon rules with violence, fury, and haste over what has occurred, jeopardizing the goodwill of the people he’s favored.
Determined to be seen as a ruler, Aegon also chooses a new addition to his council, ousting a long-standing member in the process.
Ser Criston Cole, in his guilt, takes it out on Ser Arryk Cargyll, who is sent on a seemingly impossible mission in the name of the King.
At Dragonstone, Rhaenyra’s kindness to Mysaria proves to be her saving grace, with a shock attack resulting in a heartbreaking tragedy.

Episode 3: The Burning Mill
The Royal civil war is beginning to filter through the Kingdom – with noble houses using their own vendettas as an excuse to take sides.
Both the Blacks and Greens set their eyes on Harrenhal, the biggest keep in the kingdom, believing it to be key to their victory. But they forget the legend that the castle may be cursed.
Ahead of their latest mission, Alicent calls in reinforcements in the shape of her knight brother, Ser Gwayne Hightower. But he has an immediate distrust of the head of the Kingsguard, Ser Criston, which later nearly costs him.
As Daemon sets up a new home, he is haunted by visions of his past misgivings.
Aegon is still intent on proving his mettle as a leader but is stonewalled by those around him. Frustrated, he heads to Flea Bottom to drink, where a chance run-in could prove a massive mistake.
Still trying to avoid a needless battle, Rhaenyra makes a risky last-ditch effort to see Alicent in an attempt to broker peace. But the pair’s conversation results in a revelation there is no going back from.

Episode 4: The Red Dragon and the Gold
Ser Criston Cole continues to build the Green Army by all means necessary, before setting in motion a plan to get a rise out of the Blacks.
Prince Daemon is still haunted by visions at night as he continues to try and gain troops in the Riverlands and meets a bewitching woman named Alys Rivers.
Rhaenys meets Alyn of Hull, and realizes his deeper connection to Corlys.
Queen Alicent makes a decision regarding her future after a night with Ser Criston, as Rhaenyra’s revelations lie heavy on her.
As Aegon grows frustrated with being ignored by his council, a rash decision results in an unspeakable tragedy.
The Blacks and Greens have their first major battle at Rook’s Rest with casualties and losses on both sides as it becomes evident soldiers pale in comparison to dragons.

Episode 5: Regent
The Greens and Blacks both return home to heal from the devastation of The Battle of Rook’s Rest – but are met with fallouts neither expected.
As the Green council chooses a Regent to temporarily fill Aegon’s position, some fear what the choice could lead to.
In Dragonstone, the loss they suffered as the result of the battle has Rhaenyra outnumbered and doubted by the Black council, prompting her to search for a new solution.
Young Jace begins to prove his worth as a member of the team with his negotiating skills, before making a suggestion to Rhaenyra that could change everything.
Daemon continues to be tortured by relentless visions at Harrenhal, as those he believed allies use their position alongside him to their advantage.

The Lannister Army are quick to make demands of the newly imposed Prince Regent, who is wasting no time in reshuffling the council while preparing for war.
As King Aegon awakes, the depths of his injuries become apparent, with only one person giving him any kind of encouragement as he fears for his life.
Ser Gwayne informs Alicent about the status of her fourth son, Daeron, before he heads off to battle again with Ser Criston.
At Dragonstone, Rhaenyra seeks the council of Mysaria, causing chaos in King’s Landing as a result, as the smallfolk grow frustrated with the Red Keep’s lack of care.
However, a loosely thought-out idea to build an advantage goes disastrously awry.
Daemon sees another ghost from his past in a new vision as he grows more volatile, while Alys questions him about what he truly wants out of life.
In the Vale, Princess Rhaena discovers evidence there’s a wild dragon on the lands.
