Six young men and women live in the same apartment complex and face life and love together in Manhattan, New York City. As they're constantly sticking their noses into each another's businesses, as well as sometimes swapping romantic partners, the group always get into the kind of comic situations that most other people never experience, especially during breakups.
After Rachel leaves her fiancé at the altar, she moves in with Monica and finds that life isn't so easy without Daddy's credit cards. (S1, E01)
Ross's lesbian ex-wife is pregnant with his child, and he doesn't like her choice of a last name for the baby. (S1, E02)
A soda company gives Phoebe $7,000 after she finds a dismembered thumb in a can of soda. Meanwhile, Chandler is smoking again, to his friends' dismay. (S1, E03)
When Ross mourns the anniversary of losing his virginity to Carol, the boys convince him to go to a hockey game which leads to an unfortunate incident. (S1, E04)
Ross helps Rachel do laundry and considers the evening a first date. Meanwhile, Joey has Monica pose as his new girlfriend. (S1, E05)
Joey gets his big film break when he's hired to be Al Pacino's stunt butt. Meanwhile, Chandler has a relationship with all the "fun" but none of the responsibility. (S1, E06)
When New York has a blackout, the gang return to the girls' apartment, where Ross tries to tell Rachel he likes her. (S1, E07)
Monica and Ross mourn the death of their grandmother. Meanwhile, Chandler questions his sexuality after his work colleagues set him up on a date with a man. (S1, E08)
Monica's first Thanksgiving dinner for the gang burns, when they all run to the rooftop to see the runaway Underdog balloon from the parade. (S1, E09)
The gang makes, then breaks, a pact to celebrate New Year's Eve without dates. Ross compensates for his loneliness by getting a roommate... a monkey named Marcel. (S1, E10)
The One With Mrs. Bing: Chandler's romance-novelist mother comes to New York to visit, but her promiscuity, combined with an emotional Ross, results in a regretful moment of passion. (S1, E11)
The One With The Dozen Lasagnas: Everyone knows the sex of Ross' baby except for Ross. Meanwhile, Rachel's relationship with Paolo hits a snag when he makes a pass at Phoebe. (S1, E12)
Chandler accidentally sees Rachel wandering around topless after her shower, so Rachel tries to even the score... (S1, E13)
Ross and his Valentine's Day date end up at the same restaurant as Susan and Carol. Inevitably, things don't go quite to plan. (S1, E14)
