
Who is Lashana Lynch?
Lashana Lynch, born in 1987, is a British actor of Jamaican heritage who was born and raised in London.
After attending ArtsEd school in London, Lynch made her film debut in the 2012 movie Fast Girls and, after a string of one-off roles, landed a regular role in the 2015 comedy Crims.
In 2018, she landed a key role in Sky Original drama Bulletproof, followed by her major breakthrough into Hollywood movies as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel.
In 2021, she landed a sought-after role in the James Bond movie No Time to Die as Nomi, starring opposite Daniel Craig in his final film as the leading man.
Other celebrated roles include her position in The Woman King, Miss Honey in the film adaptation of Matilda: The Musical, and as Rita Marley in the 2023 biopic Bob Marley: One Love opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir.
She was awarded a distinction at the Black Women in Hollywood Awards in 2020.

Captain Marvel (2019) - Maria Rambeau
In Captain Marvel, Maria Rambeau is a former US Air Force pilot and mother to Monica Rambeau (who would later grow up to become a key character in the franchise).
The movie, set in the 1980s, sees Carol Danvers as she assumes the role of Captain Marvel, with Maria acting as her best friend and support network when she loses her memory after a plane accident.
Maria later becomes a founding member of S.W.O.R.D.
Lynch later reprised her role in Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness.
No Time to Die (2021) - Nomi
The 25th film in the beloved British spy franchise, No Time to Die marks the final movie starring Daniel Craig in the titular role.
Lynch plays Nomi, the new 007, who recruits a retired Bond for one last mission after the events of the previous film, Spectre.
As a newcomer to the world of MI6, Nomi is green and learning on the job in comparison to her spy peers.
The Woman King (2022) - Izogie
The Woman King is a historical war and action movie based on the true story of the Agojie, an all-female team of warriors who protect the West African kingdom of Dahomey between the 17th and 19th centuries.
The film takes place around 1820 as a new generation of warriors is trained for an impending battle against the threats to their people.
Lynch plays hardened soldier and fierce fighter Izogie, who helps train newcomer Nawi as she learns the ropes of the Agojie.

Matilda: The Musical (2022) - Miss Honey
In this musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s children’s book, Matilda: The Musical follows a mistreated girl who finds magic in the world of books and later develops powers that she uses to rebel against the adults trying to keep her down.
Lynch portrays Miss Honey, Matilda’s school teacher who has dealt with suffering of her own, and with whom Matilda forms a strong and unbreakable loving bond.
Bob Marley: One Love (2023) - Rita Marley
Lynch portrays Rita, the wife of the legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, in this musical biopic.
Picking up on the star’s life in 1976, amid political conflict in Jamaica, Bob Marley uses his music in a bid to promote peace.
After Bob and Rita are among the people shot at a concert, the Marleys relocate to London with his band and start creating new music.
The move will ultimately help in the rise in popularity of reggae music, turning Bob Marley into an international icon – but behind closed doors is a growing friction between the star and his wife, who both cheat with other people amid the pressure of their marriage.
However, the pair remain together, with Rita being a stable force and guiding light in Bob’s whirlwind world, encouraging him to maintain his efforts to spread peace across the world.
