
Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch are taking you on a thrill ride across Europe as The Day of the Jackal begins.
Based on the classic 1971 book by Frederick Forsyth and its subsequent 1973 movie, The Day of the Jackal follows a mysterious lone assassin who is targeting some of the world’s most powerful people.
His work has caught the attention of MI6, particularly agent Bianca Pullman, who gets to work trying to track him down before he strikes again.
But both The Jackal and Bianca are not people who like to lose, and when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, disaster is inevitable.
Who will emerge victorious, and how many bodies will lie in their wake?

Season two was confirmed in November 2024, but is yet to be given a release date.

Season One: Episode Recap
The Day of the Jackal season one starts in Munich, Germany, and in the house of an old, grumpy janitor.
But this man is about to unwittingly become the central player of a major world-noted incident, setting forth a chain of events that are set to spiral out of control.
Season one is made up of 10 episodes, each running for an hour each.
Here’s how the episodes break down.
Episode 1
The world is shaken when Manfred Fest, a prominent political figure in the running to be the next German Chancellor, is murdered in broad daylight by a sniper in Munich.
The shot was almost impossible to make, breaking world records in order to be achieved, and catches the eye of MI6 and firearms expert Bianca Pullman.
Reaching out to an old informant for a lead, she resorts to dirty tactics in order to get them to help, which has a devastating outcome.
As the investigation begins, the illusive killer makes his way home for his son’s second birthday party undetected.
He’s soon contacted by a new potential client, who offers him a game-changing amount of cash for his biggest and most irresistible target to date.
However, things turn sour when the people who hired him for the Manfred Fest job refuse to cough up the cash they owe him.

Episode 2
After the events of episode one, Bianca is in the spotlight at work as MI6 brings in resident “fixer” Carver to sort out her mess.
Bianca continues to make reckless moves in order to track down a man named Norman Stoke, who she believes is connected to the crime, leading her to Latvia.
The Jackal begins to research his new target, Ulle Dag Charles (UDC), a tech billionaire whose new project, River, promises a new era of financial transparency.
He also traces the source of the Manfred Fest job, and begins to make plans to get the money he’s owed, making a surprising discovery about his client.
As he heads off to the airport for ‘business’, Nuria begins to get suspicious.

Episode 3
Bianca gets a break in the case that just about keeps her mission alive, but she’s skating on incredibly thin ice at work, and it appears there’s a mole in her midst.
She also has to face her informant, who confronts her about her actions.
The Jackal returns to Munich to get the money he’s owed, resulting in an intense high-speed chase.
Nuria shares her fears about her husband to her mother and brother, who start snooping for answers around his office.

Episode 4
With another high-profile murder now making headlines, MI6 are feeling the pressure to bring this mysterious assassin to justice.
Bianca brings in enforcements in the shape of Vincent Pyne, but trouble is beginning to get a little too close to home.
Meanwhile, The Jackal has some explaining to do and is desperate to see Nuria, making reckless decisions in order to do so.
In New York, the clients behind his hire for the kill of UDC begin to doubt his capabilities, while UDC dismisses fears for his safety as he makes plans for River’s launch in Tallinn, Estonia.

Episode 5
Bianca and Vincent get more forceful in their quest for answers, while MI-6 start looking into the history of a man named Alexander Duggan, an Army sniper who was seemingly killed in Afghanistan over a decade ago.
The Jackal is delivered a warning by his prime contact for the UDC hit as he lays down plans for his next job. In need of something special, he visits a shady long-time collaborator in Budapest in order to get what he needs.
But trouble is closer than he realises, leading to a major showdown.

Episode 6
Things quickly spiral out of control with The Jackal having to think on his feet in order to escape his latest perilous situation.
Despite the continued threats on his life, UDC insists on forging ahead with River’s release.
As all roads lead to Tallinn, The Jackal finds a friend who could provide what he needs to make his plan work.

Episode 7
It’s the day of the big launch event of UDC’s River, and The Jackal goes to extreme measures to make sure everything is in place for his latest hit.
Though security is massively ramped up with MI-6 aware of his target and Bianca hot on heels, The Jackal is one step ahead.
Back in Spain, Nuria’s mother and brother, Alvaro, continue to share their fears about what her husband is up to, but Alvaro decides to use their newfound situation for his own advantage.

Episode 8
The Jackal’s past is finally revealed as his true identity – and how he became an assassin in the first place – plays out.
As The Jackal goes into hiding MI6 gather together an e-fit sketch in order to help find him, and are given a top secret, heavily redacted, file that could provide some answers.
Bianca visits an old face in jail, and is forced to confront the decisions she’s made.

Episode 9
On the eve of River’s launch, tensions are at their highest as The Jackal becomes determined to get the job done - but has some problems of his own to face back home when Nuria starts demanding answers, and a favour for brother-in-law Alvaro comes at a hefty cost.
He’s not the only one, with Bianca’s marriage treading an impossibly thin line as her obsession with the Jackal continues to seep into every part of her life.
The level of corruption both Bianca and The Jackal have found themselves in begins to make itself known to viewers, and it spells trouble for them both.

Episode 10
As MI6 try to shut down the investigation, Bianca makes a bold decision for the sake of her family, but with one last shot to finally get The Jackal, she struggles to walk away.
Meanwhile The Jackal makes some radical decisions of his own, prompting regrettable actions as he tries to make it across the border and home to his wife.
With her world now crumbling around her, Nuria makes a big decision both for her and her son.
Things finally reach a breathtaking head as Bianca and The Jackal come face to face, but what does this mean for them both?
