This 1997 documentary chronicles Michael Palin's 50,000-mile adventure over ten months around the rim of the Pacific Ocean. The actor and TV presenter begins the trip on the Diomede Islands in the Bering Strait, with the intent to return there almost a year later ... if all goes well and Mother Nature cooperates. He travels by boat, train, plane and helicopter and makes stops in Russia, Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Borneo, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, the United States and Canada.
