When a car bomb goes off in a Sydney suburb it is attributed to the work of Islamic extremists and a joint task force is formed to deal with it. Malik becomes obsessed with discovering the truth.

Malik works with Agent Skerritt from the NSO to track down the car bomb killers, and goes undercover. Also, a young Chinese girl is murdered despite her parents paying a ransom.
