This comedy series tells the story of the Pearson family, led by parents Joe and Pauline. Their ambitious son, Jack, has left the family's hometown for the bright lights and glamour of Manchester. Jack returns home with surprising news for his family: He has secretly married a middle-class Jewish woman, Sarah, and is ready to introduce her to the family. On Sarah's side of things, her parents now must contend with their daughter marrying into a family with a very different background than theirs.
