Chasing The Moon

`Chasing the Moon' chronicles the story of the race to the Moon, from the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957 to Apollo 11, and the first man to set food on the Moon, in 1969. The series begins in 1957 and tracks the early years of the space race, as the United States struggled to catch up with the Soviet Union. Moving through 1964-1968 the documentary looks at the four dangerous years in the history of the space race. The concluding years of 196-1970 take Americans to the moon and back. Through interviews with many of the key players in the space race and access to previously overlooked archive material, the series looks to reveal the scientific innovation, political calculation, media spectacle and personal drama behind the space race.
