This long-running animated comedy focuses on the eponymous family in the town of Springfield in an unnamed U.S. state. The head of the Simpson family, Homer, is not a typical family man. A nuclear-plant employee, he does his best to lead his family but often finds that they are leading him. The family includes loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa and baby Maggie. Other Springfield residents include the family's religious neighbour, Ned Flanders, family physician Dr Hibbert, Moe the bartender and police chief Clancy Wiggum.

Bart's teacher, Mrs Krabappel, warns him that he is in danger of failing his history class if he doesn't do better on the next test. (S2, ep 1)

When Homer finds out about a miracle hair growth formula, he rushes out to buy it. (S2, ep 2)

While Bart and Lisa are merrily fishing near the Springfield Nuclear Reactor, they catch a three-eyed fish. (S2, ep 4)

Homer becomes the team mascot for the local minor baseball league. (S2, ep 5)

Homer and Ned Flanders pressure their sons to win a miniature golf championship. (S2, ep 6)

Enthused by the irresponsible behaviour of a daredevil cyclist at a monster truck rally, Bart decides on a career as a stunt skateboarder. (S2, ep 8)

Episode 9Itchy & Scratchy & Marge

Marge writes a letter to the creators of The Itchy & Scratchy Show, asking them to tone down the violence. (S2, ep 9)

Episode 10Bart Gets Hit by a Car

Lawyer Lionel Hutz persuades Bart to lie about the extent of his injuries after he is knocked over by Mr Burns' car. (S2, ep 10)

Episode 11One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish

Believing he only has one day left to live, Homer tries to cram as much into his remaining hours as possible. Featuring the guest voices of Larry King and George Takei. (S2, ep 11)

Episode 12The Way We Was

Marge tells the kids how she and Homer met and fell in love. Featuring the guest voice of John Lovitz. (S2, ep 12)

Episode 13Homer vs Lisa and the 8th Commandment

When Homer illegally connects to cable, Lisa worries that her father has broken the eighth commandment. Watch out for the amusing 'So You've Decided To Steal Cable' pamphlet. (S2, ep 13)

Homer arranges a date between Principal Skinner and Marge's sister Selma. (S2, ep 15)

Episode 15Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

Homer goes in search of his long-lost brother. Featuring the voice of Danny DeVito. (S2, ep 16)

Episode 16Bart's Dog Gets an F

Homer tells Bart that either Santa's Little Helper goes to obedience school and learns to listen or they will have to get rid of him. Special guest voice Tracy Ullman. (S2, ep 14)

Grampa Simpson feels there is little left to live for, until he falls in love with Beatrice, a beautiful woman at the rest home. (S2, ep 17)

Episode 18Brush With Greatness

Homer's boss, Mr Burns, commissions Marge to paint a portrait of him. Featuring the voice of Ringo Starr. (S2, ep 18)

Episode 19Lisa's Substitute

Lisa is crushed when her favourite substitute teacher leaves. Homer explains to Bart that class president means extra work and no money when Martin is elected over him. (S2, ep 19)

Marge and Homer's marriage hits a rocky patch when Homer gets drunk at a party and leers at Maude Flanders! (S2, ep 20)
