This dark, imaginative comedy follows the eccentric and dysfunctional members of the Flowers family. Maurice, author of a children's book series, and his wife, Deborah, a music teacher, have a troubled relationship. Maurice struggles with inner demons and dark secrets, while Deborah becomes increasingly suspicious that Maurice is in a secret relationship with Shun, the man who illustrates Maurice's books. The couple are parents to 25-year-old maladjusted twins, who are both competing for the attention of a neighbour.

Episode 1Episode 1

Maurice is on medication and seems in a better place, while Deborah's 'misery memoir' about him is about to be published. Meanwhile, Shun is drinking the summer away.

Episode 2Episode 2

Maurice reluctantly prepares to pitch some new ideas to his publishers, while Amy finds inspiration in an antique book that once belonged to her magician grandfather Felix.

Episode 3Episode 3

Consumed by the fate of her grandfather and the world of Baumgaertner, Amy exists in a world of her own. Maurice and Deborah's relationship deteriorates and Shun is caught between them.

Episode 4Episode 4

Hylda confronts Deborah about Amy's increasingly odd behaviour, and a drunken Maurice throws a wild party with the Pink Cuttlefish Orchestra. Amy discovers the truth about her grandfather.

Episode 5Episode 5

As the dust settles from the last few days, Deborah and Maurice slip into their old roles, while Donald tries to come to terms with the fact that Amy is suffering from a mental illness.

Episode 6Episode 6

The unconventional comedy ends by breaking with traditional narrative form, stepping away from the present to remember Shun's arrival and allowing the characters to decide their own fate.
