Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War use humor to escape the horror and depression of the situation. Among the 4077's people are Capts Benjamin `Hawkeye' Pierce and `Trapper John` McIntire, Majs Margaret `Hot Lips' Houlihan and Frank Burns, and Cpl Walter `Radar' O'Reilly.
Fade Out, Fade In - Part 1: Margaret's wedding leaves Major Frank Burns feeling distraught and he is sent for some R&R in Tokyo. While there he drunkenly accosts a blonde officer. (S6 Ep1)
Fade Out, Fade In - Part 2: Major Charles Emerson is sent to the 4077th as a replacement by a superior officer. Charles is a feisty, highbrow surgeon and hates the conditions at the camp. (S6 Ep2)
Radar tells Hawkeye he thought going to war meant he would become a man but that nothing has happened to him. Things go horribly wrong when Hawkeye tries to cheer up his friend. (S6 Ep3)
Madness strikes as BJ and his old friend play a series of practical jokes on each other. Klinger leads an imaginary camel around, feeding and even cleaning up after it. (S6 Ep4)
The camp, caught up in tension and nerves, creates a bonfire to release their pressure. Sidney Freedman is depressed over a young soldier who blames him for his injuries. (S6 Ep5)
Major Charles Winchester desperately wants to leave the 4077th and tape records a letter to his wealthy father begging him to get him transferred to the US. (S6 Ep6)
The 4077th is running out of light bulbs. When the supply truck arrives, they find that they have received the wrong shipment, and in the middle of winter. (S6 Ep7)
Hawkeye begins to fall in love with a Korean villager. Meanwhile, Margaret learns that her husband may have made a pass at a new nurse assigned to the 4077th. (S6 Ep8)
Major Winchester plots to cheat the natives when the Army changes the military scrip. Klinger tries to get into West Point so that he can get out of Korea. (S6 Ep9)
Hawkeye and BJ try to discourage Radar from getting a tattoo. Hot Lips realises that there is a camaraderie of nurses at the 4077th and she is not included. (S6 Ep10)
Col Potter enforces an exercise course. When Klinger hears that being overweight can bring a discharge he decides to put on some extra pounds. (S6 Ep11)
Colonel Bloodworth antagonises Hawkeye, he retaliates by shoving him. Bloodworth presses for a court martial until he watches Hawkeye save a soldier's life. (S6 Ep12)
Comrades in Arms - Part 1: Lost behind enemy lines, Hawkeye and Margaret form a personal truce and seek shelter in a roadside hut. (S6 Ep13)
Comrades in Arms - Part 2: Potter and BJ are frantic about their missing comrades leading BJ to disobey orders to find them. Hawkeye and Margaret have become more hostile towards each other. (S6 Ep14)
BJ and Hawkeye challenge Major Winchester to a poker game in the hope that he will stop using the money they owe as leverage for random favours. (S6 Ep15)
Hawkeye and BJ refuse to shower until Major Winchester stops playing his French horn and Colonel Potter deals with a disfigured patient who wants to kill himself. (S6 Ep16)
Klinger accidentally discards Margaret's wedding ring and is sent to the dump to find it. Meanwhile, Hawkeye is fed up with having to work with inadequate surgical equipment. (S6 Ep17)
Penicillin has been stolen at the 4077th just as wounded soldiers arrive. Father Mulcahy knows where the penicillin is being stored due to a soldier's confession. (S6 Ep18)
