At the warehouse, Faz’s body has been strung up for a devastated Saba to find as a message for Elliot. Meanwhile, Ed meets with the Wallaces, demanding an end to the bloodshed and insisting he take the lead in finding Elliot. Marian tells him that he cannot fix things this time.
At Zeek’s house, he receives a call from Ed demanding answers about why he let Elliot go. Zeek lies, says he’s left town, and hangs up as he writes a letter. Ed then visits an old friend named Ray, who has a guitar shop as a front for gun sales. Ed asks Ray where Zeek is, as he was the one who vouched for him. Ray pleads with Ed to let him talk to Zeek to settle things. Ray hands over a card with Zeek’s information, and Ed repays him by shooting him.
Lale keeps Elliot hidden, knowing Ed’s put out a hit on him. She tells him Asif is working for Ed and confesses she’s the one who framed Elliot for the drugs. He lashes out angrily, but he calms down when she tells him Asif has her son and could provide the answers they both need.
At City Hall, Simone catches in the brief that a business owned by Asif Afridi is on the list of approved suppliers for their proposed legal drug chain. She tells Henry she’s removing them from the list. He tries to argue against it, but she holds firm.
Meanwhile, Billy and Cornelius continue to leave chaos in their wake in their continued hunt for Elliot. Cornelius receives a call saying someone’s talked.
Confrontation Time
As Henry and Asif have another meeting, Lale and Elliot sneak into Asif’s home, killing off one of the security guards in the process. When she hears her baby crying, Lale heads towards the nursery to retrieve her son, holding the nurse at gunpoint and demanding she hand him over. The nurse calls her a drug dealer and criminal, arguing the baby would be happier with her looking after him, and she cannot give him the love he needs. Lale tells her that he’s her baby and takes him, punching the nurse but not killing her.
Elliot tries to track down Asif, but Asif spots a problem on his security cameras. As he reaches for his gun, Elliot catches him, demanding answers for everything. Asif tries to make a deal with the pair, saying he has the answers he is looking for – but will only reveal who killed his family in exchange for Lale. Elliot is tempted by the choice, but is distracted by the security alarm going off, and Lale seizes the opportunity to slash Asif’s throat.
As the pair make their escape, they leave a trail of blood behind them as security guards try to stop them, but they make their getaway. Angry he still has no answers, Elliot makes a call as they head to Lale’s headquarters.
Across town, Ed breaks into Zeek’s home. Looking around the flat, he is surprised to find a woman’s bedroom, filled with memorabilia and photos. Then he spots one on the wall and freezes, recognising who it is. In the meantime, Zeek meets his mother, who is staying at a mental health facility.
She is badly burned across one side of her body and face, and Zeek looks after her, doing her nails as he notes she ‘tried hurting herself again’. He tells her he needs to go away for a bit and she questions: “What have you done?”
Before Ed leaves the flat, he is seen looking at a second photo – revealing Finn Wallace to be Zeek’s father.
At Lale’s warehouse, Lale and Elliot are ambushed, with Lale’s second-in-command handing them over to Billy and Cornelius. Lale is held at gunpoint, while Elliot is knocked out and taken to be brought before Marian. As she prepares to have a meeting with the gang leaders, she discovers a phone and letter on her windowsill.
Decision Time
With the baby now discovered by her second-in-command, he demands Lale resign from her position, saying he is a problem for the group, especially as he’s Sean’s. It’s implied he wants to take over from her properly and gain control. Instead, she smashes his head in the car door.
Ahead of the gang meeting, an unarmed Luan stops Marian’s car and says that he wants to be a part of the justice to be delivered to Elliot. He calls for a truce, saying he needs to know why the spiking took place, and deserves to be a part of the meeting.
At City Hall, Simone – fresh from a successful meeting with the Prime Minister – receives a message from Elliot, revealing that Henry orchestrated the spiking with Ed Dumani and Asif Afridi, telling her to be careful.
As the gang leaders gather, a badly beaten Elliot is dragged before them all. Ed demands he’s killed immediately. However, Marian steps in, revealing she received a letter saying the order to kill Sean came from the phone left alongside it. The single number on the phone is called. And it’s in Ed’s pocket.
How did you feel when you read the script and understood the game is over for Asif?
ASIF RAZA MIR (Asif): When I got the initial script for season three, there was no discussion about this character being eliminated in this series. It was very simple, not much happening during this season for this character, but he sort of comes back and all that story is there. Then there was some change of thoughts or development in the story at a later stage. I got a call from the execs saying we need to have a chat. They were very apologetic, and then the news broke. I was disappointed for a little while, but then I felt that maybe this is doing something interesting for the series overall, and which I think it did.
As a person, you want to continue because you’ve made friends, you’ve developed a character, you sort of own it, and we’ve been at it for the last six years now. It’s my second home coming back to Gangs every year. We were going through it during even Covid, the whole year we were working on it. But you realise that this is what is best for the series. The way it has been done, has been done brilliantly. It looks great. I wish I could die again!
How did you feel about the death of Asif?
LUCIAN MSAMATI (Ed): Asif! What can I say about the legend that is? I don’t think many of us necessarily appreciated when we had the mighty Asif with us from season one just how huge a star he is. And yet he brought poise, he brought fashion, humour, a coolness to him. It’s sad to see him go, but I think he will live forever in the folklore of Gangs of London.
NARGES RASHIDI (Lale): I cried when I heard Asif is going to be killed off, and by my character. It was very, very hard for me to be honest. I was bawling like a little child on his last day. I shouldn’t be saying this because I play Lale so I’ve got to be tough and shit, but I’m not!
Tell us who Zeek really is.
ANDREW KOJI (Zeek): Zeek is the illegitimate son of Finn Wallace, and therefore half-brother to Sean Wallace. So not only does he feel outcast because of his father wanting nothing to do with him, he feels he is entitled to be the heir to the throne of Gangs of London. He carries a lot of pain and mental demons, let’s say, because of what happened to his mother. We learn that all of his motivations and actions are actually tied to a greater purpose, which is to rule the Wallace empire.
