Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War use humor to escape the horror and depression of the situation. Among the 4077's people are Capts Benjamin `Hawkeye' Pierce and `Trapper John` McIntire, Majs Margaret `Hot Lips' Houlihan and Frank Burns, and Cpl Walter `Radar' O'Reilly.
Major General Steele, the new area commander, is about to arrive at the 4077th. He appears to be more eccentric than the usual army brass. (S3 Ep1)
Hawkeye and Trapper are sent into enemy territory with no artillery when captured G.I.s need medical attention. Frank's nervous disposition threatens to ruin the arrangement. (S3 Ep2)
Lt Col Henry is away and Frank is in charge. Col Flagg of Intelligence has a wounded North Korean who needs to get to Seoul for interrogation and then execution as a spy. (S3 Ep3)
Famed General 'Iron Guts' Kelly arrives for an inspection and dies in action, but not the kind of death that would look good on a war record. (S3 Ep4)
The wounded arrive by helicopter, ambulance and jeep, leaving the 4077th overwhelmed by the casualties. Everyone is called into action while Hawkeye, Trapper and Henry work quickly. (S3 Ep5)
Several wild events happen during a spring day in Korea. Klinger receives a letter from his girl Laverne who agrees to marry him. Next, Radar falls for a nurse. (S3 Ep6)
All personnel are ordered to have a medical check-up. Trapper refuses an examination and finally confesses he's got an ulcer which could provide grounds for a medical discharge. (S3 Ep7)
Henry's wife writes to him that, given the circumstances of war, she'd understand if he found another woman. He reads between the lines that she is having an affair. (S3 Ep8)
As commanding officer, Frank dismantles the Swamp's still and declares Prohibition at the 4077th. Hawkeye and Trapper get irritable and wonder if they're alcoholics. (S3 Ep9)
The threat of an enemy parachute drop forces the 4077th to evacuate the nurses to another unit. The camp realises just how much the nurses mean to the unit. (S3 Ep10)
Adam's Rib: Sick of eating liver and fish for the 11th straight day, Hawkeye hatches a plan to order forty pounds of spare ribs from his favourite restaurant, Adam's Ribs, in Chicago. (S3 Ep11)
Hawkeye records a letter to his Dad, detailing the exploits of a Turkish soldier, the loss of a Luxembourg Lieutenant's corpse and tactics to get medical care for a comrade. (S3 Ep12)
Hawkeye notices a dog bite on the back of Radar's hand and advises him to find the dog so they can test it for rabies. Hawkeye treats a young shell-shocked GI. (S3 Ep13)
