Traditional broadband runs a fibre cable to the cabinet in your street and arrives at your home through a slower copper cable, shared with your neighbours. Full Fibre is powered by a fibre cable all the way to your home, also known as FTTP (Fibre to the premises). - Work is underway to replace the UK’s traditional fibre network with more reliable Full Fibre broadband. Find out if it’s available at your address here. If it’s not available at your address, keep an eye out as Full Fibre technology is being rolled out to more places every day.
- ‘FTTP’ means ‘Fibre to the premises’ (it’s also known as ‘Full Fibre’). It’s the UK’s newest and most reliable broadband technology and is delivered through a dedicated fibreoptic cable all the way to your door, from the telephone exchange. This means no sharing with neighbours, just ultrafast speeds all the time.
‘FTTC’ means ‘Fibre to the cabinet’. It’s the UK’s traditional broadband technology, which uses copper cables from the exchange that you share with your neighbours. The shared connection means slower speeds and less reliability. - Broadband is your connection to the internet and is delivered to your home by a fibre or copper cable. Once you have broadband, you can get your devices online through a wired connection (via an Ethernet cable) or a wireless connection (WiFi). Wireless connection is typically what you use to connect smartphones, tablets, and laptops to the internet.

Guarantees
Speed Guarantee: Requires Sky Broadband. If the download speed to your hub drops below your guaranteed minimum download speed for three consecutive days or more, you will have the right to leave your Sky Broadband and Talk contracts without incurring early termination charges. You can also upgrade your broadband product without any upfront fees.
This applies anytime within your minimum term. Total loss of service and Major Service Outages do not count towards three-day periods, such as if your broadband stops working completely, or you can’t use the internet on any of your devices and it’s not a WiFi problem. Speed checks must be done using sky.com/servicechecker, the MySky app or by speaking to one of our service advisors. See sky.com for more details, usage policies and to check your speeds.
Sky fibre customers can also claim money back under this speed guarantee by calling Sky. You must be within your minimum term and can claim once within it. Money back will be one month’s Sky Broadband subscription, minus any discounts or offers, credited to your Sky account. If the download speed to your hub drops below your guaranteed minimum download speed for three consecutive days or more, you will have the right to leave your Sky Broadband and Talk contracts without incurring early termination charges. This applies anytime within your minimum term. Total loss of service and Major Service Outages do not count towards three-day periods, such as if your broadband stops working completely, or you can’t use the internet on any of your devices and it’s not a WiFi problem. Sky fibre customers can also claim money back under this speed guarantee by calling Sky. You must be within your minimum term and can claim once within it. Money back will be one month’s Sky Broadband subscription, minus any discounts or offers, credited to your Sky account. This excludes Sky Talk and any Add-Ons like McAfee, Broadband Boost or WiFi Max.
WiFi Guarantee with Boost: Available to new Ultrafast customers and as a re-contract for existing customers with Sky Broadband Boost. Min. 3Mb/s - Sky engineer's visit required to confirm WiFi speed - or money back and you can cancel your Sky Broadband Boost subscription without any early termination charges.
