Shaun Of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star Nick Frost is coming to Sky Atlantic HD in Mr. Sloane, a new series from Emmy® award-winning writer, director and producer Robert B. Weide (Curb Your Enthusiasm).
Created by and starring some of the finest talent from both on and off screen, bittersweet romantic comedy Mr. Sloane's titular character is a buttoned-down 1960's man in crisis. Between his failed attempts at marriage, career success and even suicide, it's fair to say that 1969 isn't shaping up to be Watford-dweller Mr. Sloane's year. But with a potential job opportunity on the horizon and the phone number of a prospective new love interest following a chance encounter in his local hardware store, could Mr Sloane's luck be about to change?
RTS® Award winning and BAFTA® nominated actress Olivia Colman will play Mr Sloane's estranged wife Janet, exciting and fast rising young actress Ophelia Lovibond joins the cast as Robin, a free-spirited young American and prospective new love interest for Mr Sloane and BAFTA® nominated actor, writer and comedy king of Twitter Peter Serafinowicz will play Ross, one of Mr Sloane's three childhood friends whom he meets every night in his local.
On working with one of Britain's best-loved comedy actors on his first UK TV project Robert B. Weide said: "Nick is not only a very funny guy, but a very talented actor. I had no specific agenda to create a show for him, but out of the blue, an idea came to me that was entirely character-driven, and I immediately saw Nick as that character. I pitched it to him, and he said, 'Let's do it.'"
On his involvement in the project, Nick Frost commented: "Original and off-beat, I loved Bob's idea for Mr Sloane and fell in love with this character straight away so I'm chuffed to be a part of the project and can't wait to start filming."
Mr Sloane is coming in 2014.
