Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe star in our extraordinary, based on the memoirs of a Russian doctor working during the Russian Revolution.
A Young Doctor's Notebook & Other Stories is a comedy drama inspired by a selection of further works by the celebrated Russian writer and playwright Mikhail Bulgakov, including the semi-autobiographical story, Morphine.
The upcoming series two returns to the small village of Muryevo in 1918 to find the Young Doctor (Daniel Radcliffe) battling against an all-consuming morphine addiction. Under the critical gaze of his "clean" older self (Jon Hamm), the Young Doctor struggles to cope with life in the hospital, the Civil War, and the arrival of Natasha, a beautiful young aristocrat.
Series two sees Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe reprise their roles in the most successful series in the history of Sky Arts.
What the critics are saying
"This comedy drama has delivered record-breaking ratings for Sky Arts, hopefully as a result of its excellence as an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's short stories as well as the celebrity of Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm, both also superb." The Guardian
"The heightened, eventually hilarious gloom of Mikhail Bulgakov's writing has been successfully brought to life in this series. It's also surprisingly gory and, as the final episode approaches, a careful balance will have to be struck between bleak humour and genuine tragedy." Time Out
"Radcliffe is particularly good as the novice with not much of a clue as to how to deal with the ailments set before him." The Independent
