Frequently asked questions

  • Can I get Sky Broadband Unlimited in my area?

    If you have a BT-compatible phone line, enter your BT or Sky Talk telephone number on our Landline Checker.

    If you don't have a BT-compatible phone line (if, for example, you are currently using Virgin or another cable service), enter your postcode in our online Postcode Checker.

  • How long will it take for my line to go active?

    Once you have ordered Sky Broadband and Talk, if you don’t need an engineer to install a line, it will normally take up to 15 days for your broadband to go active. If you do need an engineer your Broadband will usually be activated on the day the engineer installs your phone line. We'll send you a letter (or, if you have provided us with an email address, an email) to welcome you to Sky Broadband, followed by confirmation of your line activation date. Your Sky Hub will be delivered and you can get started.

  • Is there a usage policy with Sky Broadband?

    If you’re a Sky Broadband Lite or Sky Fibre customer and exceed your monthly usage allowance, we’ll send you an email to let you know. If you go over your allowance twice within a six month period, we’ll move you onto unlimited usage. However you use the internet, you can be sure that in Sky network areas we don’t ever slow our broadband speed down.

  • When will I get my Sky Hub?

    Your Sky Hub router should arrive through the post 5 to 6 days before your broadband goes active. With it you’ll find a booklet which will take you through the install process step-by-step so you can install your Sky Broadband yourself at home.

  • Can I keep my existing number if I switch to Sky?

    If you are switching from another provider to Sky you should be able to keep your phone number, just make sure you ask to when you place your order.
