Use Sky Yahoo Mail on your mobile or tablet

Once you’ve created a Sky Yahoo Mail account, you can set it up on your mobile or tablet.

If you change your password, you’ll need to synchronise your account by signing in with your Sky email address and new password. Then, update your mail client on your mobile or tablet with your new password.

Please note: If you’ve set up your mail app and your emails aren’t working, you may be using the wrong settings.

  • POP moves emails from the email server onto your computer, mobile or tablet.
  • IMAP allows two-way syncing, so if you delete an email using your phone's email app, for example, the email will also have been deleted when you access your account using your computer or tablet.

Use the instructions below to check whether you’re using POP or IMAP.

  • iPhone/iPad

    1. Tap Settings followed by Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Add Account and then Other.
    2. Tap Add Mail Account and fill in your details:

    Name: Your name.
Email: Your full Sky Email address.
Password: The password you use to access your Sky Email account.
Description: Your iPhone/iPad may automatically display “Sky” here, it is optional for you to change this.

On the next screen make sure that:

    The IMAP tab is highlighted
    Host Name is imap.tools.sky.com
Username is your full Sky Email address, including '@sky.com'
For Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), your Host Name is smtp.tools.sky.com

    Updating password/settings:

If you’ve already set up your account on your iPhone or iPad but it isn’t working as expected, check whether you’re using POP or IMAP settings.

Tap Settings followed by Mail, Contacts and Calendars. Select your Sky Yahoo Mail account and on the next screen, tap your Account again.

Check the SMTP field. If it reads “smtp.gmail.com”, you’ll need to create your account again using the correct settings.

If the SMTP field reads “smtp.tools.sky.com” check if you’re using the correct Sky POP/IMAP settings. Under Account details, check the Host Name field.

If it reads “imap.tools.sky.com” or “pop.tools.sky.com” you don’t need to make any changes.

If it reads “imap.gmail.com” or “pop.gmail.com”, you should change the Host Name to “imap.tools.sky.com” for IMAP and “pop.tools.sky.com” for POP.

Tap the SMTP field and also update this to “smtp.tools.sky.com”

If you change your account password, you can update it on your iPhone/iPad under Account. While on this screen, you should also select SMTP followed by smtp.tools.sky.com and change your password on this screen too. Tap Done followed by Account

  • Android

    1. On your device, tap the Email app. Select the Email tab and tap New.
    2. Tap Add Account and enter your Sky Yahoo Mail address and password. Tap Next.

    6. Tap Done when complete.

    Updating password/settings:

If you’ve already set up your account on your Android device but it is not working as expected, check whether you’re using POP or IMAP settings.

Tap the Email app. If your sky.com account is the only email account you have set up, you will immediately be shown your inbox. If you have multiple email accounts, choose your Sky Yahoo Mail account.

Tap Options and then Settings. Scroll down and tap Incoming Settings (this may also be called Incoming Server Settings). Check the details in these fields:

If they read “pop.tools.sky.com” or “imap.tools.sky.com”, you do not need to do anything else.

If they read “imap.gmail.com”, or “pop.gmail.com” you need to set up an email account using the Sky settings instead.

      Please note:
In some cases, "I will provide the settings" may not appear. To force this option to appear, enter an invalid email address such as username@sky.com and an invalid password. Be sure to re-type the correct email and password once the advanced settings are made available.

  • Sync your contacts on your mobile or device

To sync your contacts with your Apple or Android device, we recommend using CardDAV.

Please note: If you have problems getting your contacts to sync, try signing in to Sky Yahoo Mail on your computer and clicking the Contacts icon. Press the F5 key on your keyboard and then check your contacts again on your device.

    iPhone/iPad:

    1. Tap Settings followed by Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Add Account and then Other.
    2. Tap Add CardDAV Account.
    3. Enter your Sky Yahoo Mail account details:

    Server: carddav.tools.sky.com
Email: Your full Sky Yahoo Mail address.
Password: The password you use to access your Sky Yahoo Mail account.
Description: Enter a name for this account. You can change this at a later time if you wish.

Your phone will now verify that this information is correct. To view your Sky Yahoo Mail contacts list, select Contacts from the home screen. It may take a few minutes before displaying.

If you don’t see the contacts in the list, tap the Groups option and ensure your CardDAV account is selected.

    Android:

Please note: you may need to download and install a “CardDAV sync” app before you can sync your contacts. Search for “CardDAV sync” on the app store.

In your CardDAV syncing app select Add account and enter the following details:

    URL/Server: carddav.tools.sky.com
Username/Email: Your full Sky Yahoo Mail address.
Password: The password you use to access your Sky Yahoo Mail account.
Description: Enter a name for this account. You can change this at a later time if you wish.

Once the settings have been accepted you should see your Sky Yahoo Mail contacts in your main contacts list. If not, it’s also worth checking on your app that:

    • Two-way syncing is enabled i.e. contacts added on your phone also sync with the server and vice-versa.
    • Syncing is enabled at a frequency you want e.g. every 30 minutes.
