Sound problems on Sky Q

Sound skipping or breaking up

If you're having sound problems when watching live TV, try another channel - if the loss of sound is only affecting one channel, it’s likely that the problem is with the broadcaster. Try again later.

If you're still having problems, there are a few things you can try to fix it:

  • Try another HDMI socket on your TV

    If your TV has more than one HDMI socket:

    1. Plug your Sky Q box's HDMI cable into a different HDMI socket on your TV.
    2. Use the Input button on your Sky Q remote to select the new TV input.

  • Try a direct connection between your Sky Q box and TV

    If your Sky Q box is connected to a speaker system or device other than your TV, try connecting your HDMI cable directly between your box and your TV.

    If your sound is normal, there may be a problem with the device you've just disconnected. Contact the manufacturer for advice.

  • Restart your Sky Q box and check the cables

    1. Switch your Sky Q box off at the mains.
    2. Check that both ends of all cables are securely connected.
    3. Switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
    4. Wait for the onscreen instructions to disappear then press Home on your Sky Q remote.
