Sky iD

Sky iD is your sign in for our online services, including My Sky, Sky Go, Sky Store, Sky Broadband Shield, Sky apps, and more. It consists of your email address (or a username) and a password.

Every Sky account must have a Primary Sky iD, which is the first user to create an iD and link it to the account. You can only have one Primary Sky iD and this should be the bill payer as they’ll be allowed to access account and billing details, make subscription changes, and access all subscribed services, such as Sky Go, Sky Q, Sky Mobile, McAfee Security, Sky Broadband Shield and TV parental controls.

  • Create a Sky iD

You can create a Sky iD two ways:

    1. Online at sky.com

    1. Go to Create a Sky iD.
    2. Enter a valid email address. You'll need to verify this address, so we'll email you instructions of how to do this.
    3. Choose a password of at least 8 characters, including both numbers and letters. Avoid using 'password', your email address or a password you use for any other site.
    4. Enter the captcha word displayed. If you can't read it, choose Try another one or select the audio button to hear it aloud.
    5. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions, then select Create Sky iD.
    6. Enter your billing address postcode if you live in the UK or phone number if you live in the ROI.
    7. Enter one of the following:

    • Your 12-digit Sky account number - find this on your Sky Welcome Letter or your most recent bill.
    • The last 6 digits of the bank account number used to pay for Sky.
Or for limited access (no access to billing information or subscription changes):

    • Enter your 9-digit viewing card number - find this on your viewing card.

    8. Select Confirm. We'll confirm onscreen and by email that your Sky iD’s ready to use.

    2. Through your order confirmation email

If you’ve recently joined Sky, upgraded your package, or completed a Home Move, we’ll send you a Sky iD set up link in your order confirmation email.

    1. Select the Sky iD set up link in your email. This link can only be used once, so if you’re setting up your primary Sky iD, we suggest the bill payer uses it.
    2. You'll see your email address – this will be part of your Sky iD. Choose a password of at least 8 characters, including both numbers and letters. Avoid using 'password', your email address or a password you have for any other site.
    3. Enter your billing address postcode if you live in the UK or phone number if you live in the ROI.
    4. Enter the captcha word displayed. If you can't read it, choose Try another one or select the audio button to hear it aloud.
    5. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions, then select Create Sky iD. We'll confirm onscreen and by email that your Sky iD’s ready to use.

  • Sky account access for household or family members

If any household or family members want access to your Sky account they can create separate Sky iDs.

An additional nine Sky iDs can be created for an account.

There are two types of additional Sky iD, each one has a different level of access:

    • Authorised Sky iD lets you see account and billing information and allows you to make purchases or changes on the Sky account. It has the same level of access as the account holder (the Primary Sky iD holder), but can’t manage other Sky iD users or access McAfee Security.
    • Secondary Sky iD gives access to all of the account’s subscribed services, but not billing information or subscription changes.

    Create an additional Sky iD

Household or family members should set up their own Sky iD.

    • To set up an Authorised Sky iD: Enter either the 12-digit Sky account number (this can be found on the most recent bill) or the last 6 digits of the bank account number used to pay the Sky bill.
    • To set up a Secondary Sky iD (limited access): Only enter the 9-digit viewing card number – find this on your viewing card.

Please note: Before creating an additional Sky iD, sign out of any existing Sky iD account.

Go to Create a Sky iD>

We’ll email the account holder (Primary Sky iD holder) to notify them an additional Sky iD has been created.

  • Remove or manage additional Sky iDs

To remove an additional Sky iD:

Please note: Only the account holder (Primary Sky iD holder) can do this.

    1. Sign into My Sky’s My Details page with your Sky iD.
    2. Any additional users are listed in the Additional Users section.
    3. To remove a user, select Remove user next to their name.

Their Sky iD will still exist but it won’t be linked to your household and won’t be able to access many of Sky’s online services.

If the removed user knows your Sky account details, they can re-link their Sky iD to your account, but if they do this, the account holder (Primary Sky iD holder) will receive an email from Sky.

    Manage additional Sky iDs:

Only the account holder (Primary Sky iD holder) can update Sky iD access rights for household or family members on the account, but they’ll need to contact us and go through security checks to do this.

  • Forgotten Sky iD details

If you've forgotten your Sky iD details, read our Forgotten Sky iD details article.

  • Verifying your email address

When signing into Sky’s services, you may be asked to verify your email address. This is part of our ongoing effort to increase your account’s security. If this occurs:

    1. Select the Send email button in the verification message. This verification link is valid for 30 minutes only, but if it expires, simply sign in and send us another request.
    2. Select Continue.
    3. Sign into that email account and open the email from Sky.
    4. Select Verify your email address now.

Alternatively, select Remind me later and continue to your service. The next time you sign into that service you’ll be given the option to verify your email address.
