Record to your Sky box wherever you are

You can record shows and movies to your Sky box, wherever you are in the UK or Ireland. This is known as Remote Record.

  • Getting started with Remote Record

Before you can Remote Record, make sure:

    1. You have a Sky iD

If you don’t have one, create a Sky iD.

    2. Remote Record is activated

    Online

    1. Sign into your My Sky Settings with your Sky iD. Reset your Sky iD if you’ve forgotten your details.
    2. Select Manage Remote Record. If you see the message “Remote Record is currently active”, you can already Remote Record.
    3. If you don’t see the message and only have one Sky box, select Activate Remote Record. If you have two or more Sky boxes, select the viewing card for the Sky box you’d like to record programmes to, then select Activate Remote Record.

Or in the my Sky app

    1. Open the My Sky app and, if you haven’t already, sign in using your Sky iD details. If you’re new to the app, visit our My Sky app page to find out more.
    2. Select Manage account > TV > TV settings.
    3. Select View in the Remote Record tile.
    4. If you see the message “Remote Record is currently active”, you can already Remote Record. If you don’t see the message and only have one Sky box, select Activate Remote Record. If you have two or more Sky boxes, select the viewing card for the Sky box you’d like to record programmes to, then select Activate Remote Record.

    3. Your Sky box is connected to your broadband network

Find out how to do this in our Set up Sky TV on demand guide.

How to Remote Record

You can Remote Record several ways:

  • 1. Sky+ app

With the Sky+ app on your iPhone or iPad, you can set your Sky box to record a show or series that’s on over the next seven days, even if you’re not home. Find out more:

  • 2. Sky’s online TV Guide

    1. Go to Sky’s online TV Guide on a compatible mobile, desktop, laptop or tablet.
    2. If you’re not already signed in, select Sign In at the top of the screen and sign in with your Sky iD.
    3. Find the show or movie you’d like to record and select it.
    4. Select the Record button at the top of the page. If you’re recording a programme from a series, select the Record button and choose whether you’d like your Sky box to Record Once or Record Series.
    5. You’ll see “Requested” appear next to the record logo.

  • 3. The Sky Cinema website

    1. Find a movie you want to watch on the Sky Cinema website.
    2. Select Download at the top of the movie page. To watch the movie right away on Sky Go select Watch, or if you'd rather record it to your Sky+ box select Record.
    3. If the movie isn't currently available, select Never Miss to get a reminder email when it comes to Sky Cinema.

  • 4. The Sky TV email

    1. Open the Sky TV email.
    2. Select the Record button next to the show or movie you’d like to record.
    3. If you’re already signed into sky.com with your Sky iD, you’ll see the message “Request successfully sent to your box” in a new window. If the option’s available, select Series link to record an entire series.
    4. If you're not signed in, you'll be asked for your Sky iD. You’ll remain signed in for the next 90 days, so whenever you select Record on a Sky TV email during this time it’ll be done instantly.

  • 5. The Never Miss website

    1. Go to the Never Miss website, and sign in using your Sky iD details.
    2. Find what you want to watch and select the Never Miss button next to it.
    3. We'll send you an email alert a week before the title is aired. Inside this email, select the programme's name and choose to record the programme.

How do I change the email address used for Never Miss alerts?

The email address used for Never Miss is the same as the one registered on your Sky iD. Changing one email address will automatically change the other:

    1. Sign into the Never Miss website with your Sky iD. Your registered email address is shown in the My Requests box in the top-left corner.
    2. Select Change your email address and type in your new email address.
    3. Select Save. You’ll now see your new email address in the top-left corner, and all future Never Miss alerts will be sent to this new email address.

Review or cancel a Never Miss alert

    1. Go to the Never Miss website and sign in using your Sky iD.
    2. All alerts set up are shown in the My Requests box in the top-left corner.
    3. Select a programme name to see its summary.
    4. To cancel an alert, select the Requested button to change it to a Cancel button, and then select Cancel.
