No signal or no input

You'll see this message if:

  • Your TV isn't on the correct input
  • The Sky Q box is on standby or switched off completely, or
  • The box isn't correctly cabled to the TV

To begin, press Home on your Sky Q remote.

The power light on your Sky Q box should change from red or amber to green (on). If it does, try the steps below, starting with Check the input mode.

If the power light remains red or amber, press the Standby button on the front of your Sky Q box:

  • Check the input mode

    Your viewing picture will be available on one of the HDMI/AV inputs on your TV. To select the correct HDMI/AV input, use your TV remote. You can also use your Sky Q remote if it's set up to control your TV.

    To use your Sky Q remote:

    1. Press the Input button. The TV input should display.
    2. Press the Input button again to select the correct HDMI/AV channel on the TV. You may have to press it more than once to locate the correct channel.
    3. Wait for the TV input menu to disappear.

    If you're unable to select the correct channel on your TV using your Sky Q remote, try using your TV remote until the Sky picture is displayed on your TV. The button required may be one of:

    • HDMI
    • AV (Sky Q Mini box only)
    • Input
    • Source
    • EXT
    • Circle or square with an arrow pointing inwards or outwards

    Check your TV's support website or helpline for further advice if you're not sure about the correct channel selection to view Sky.

  • Check the connections and try another device

    If you’re using a HDMI cable, check the cable is plugged securely into the pink HDMI socket at the back of your Sky Q box and TV.

    If you're seeing this message on a Sky Q Mini box and it's connected via an AV cable, check the cable is securely plugged into the AV port at the back of your Sky Q Mini box and TV.

    Try another device

    Try using another device on the same input, such as:

    • DVD or Blu-ray player.
    • Games console.
    • Other set top box (e.g. Chromecast or Apple TV).

    To do this, disconnect the HDMI cable from the HDMI socket on your TV and connect your new device to the same input.

    If the other device works, go to the next step. If it doesn’t, contact your TV manufacturer for advice

  • Try another HDMI socket on your TV

    If your TV has another HDMI socket, try:

    1. Disconnecting the HDMI cable from the TV and plug it into another HDMI socket.
    2. Use the Input button on your TV/Sky Q remote to select the new TV input.

    If your still having problems or don’t have another HDMI socket, go to the next step.

  • Try a direct connection between your Sky Q box and TV

    If your Sky Q box is connected to a speaker system or device other than your TV, try connecting your HDMI cable directly between your box and your TV.

    If your picture looks normal, there may be a problem with the device you've just disconnected. Contact the manufacturer for advice.

  • Restart your Sky Q box and check the cables

    1. Switch your Sky Q box off at the mains.
    2. Check that both ends of all cables are securely connected.
    3. Switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
    4. Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear then press Home on your Sky Q remote.

  • Reset your picture resolution

    1. On your Sky Q remote, press Home, enter 1080 on your Sky Q remote and press Home again.
    2. You’ll see the on screen message ‘Your picture resolution has been manually reset to default (1080i)'
