Music on Sky Q

Fix problems connecting your Bluetooth device

If you're having problems listening to your music on your Bluetooth device, try moving the device closer to your Sky Q box. The problem may also be temporary if you're in an area with lots of devices connected to your home broadband. 

If this isn't the case and Bluetooth connection still doesn't work, there are a few things you can try to get it working again.

  • Make sure music can be sent to the box

    If the device is connected to the box but no music can be heard through your TV, check that you've enabled the setting.

    1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote, go to Settings, followed by Setup.
    2. Select Music and make sure Allow music to be sent to this box is to set to On.

  • Check your device is connected

    If you've already connected your device previously, check it's connected to the box. To do this:

    1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote, go to Settings, followed by Setup.
    2. Select Music, choose Bluetooth devices and find your device. 

    • If your device isn't listed: Select Add a new Bluetooth device and follow the instructions to connect.
    • If your device is listed but it says, “Not connected”: Make sure your device's Bluetooth is switched on. Then on your device, select to connect to your Sky Q box in the list of Bluetooth devices. The box name will be the type and last 4 digits of the serial number, e.g. Sky Q 2TB 1234.
    • If your device is listed and it says, “Connected”: You should be able to start playing music through the TV.

  • Restart your device

    Switch your device off and back on then try connecting to your Sky Q box again. 

    If it doesn’t connect, try a different device. If only one device is affected, contact the manufacturer. If all devices are unable to connect, go to the next step. 

  • Restart your Sky Q box

    Try restarting your Sky Q box:

    1. Switch your Sky Q box off at the mains.
    2. Check that both ends of all cables are securely connected.
    3. Switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
    4. Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear then press Home on your Sky Q remote.

    Once the box has restarted most features will work, but some may take up to five minutes.
