Fix problems connecting your Apple device

If you can’t play music on your Apple device through your TV, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check your device is connected

    First, make sure your device is connected to the same broadband as your Sky Q box.

    iPhone or iPad users

    1. Swipe up and left from the bottom of your device's screen. Its Control Centre will display.
    2. Select AirPlay and make sure your Sky Q box is selected.

    iTunes users (PC or Mac)

    In iTunes, select the AirPlay icon and make sure your Sky Q box is selected.

  • Check you're connected to the right Sky Q box

    To make sure you’re connecting to the right Sky Q box, you’ll see the box type followed by the last four digits of the serial number. For example, Sky Q 2TB Box 1234.  

  • Restart your Sky Q box
    Try restarting your Sky Q box: 

    1. Switch your Sky Q box off at the mains.
    2. Check that both ends of all cables are securely connected.
    3. Switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
    4. Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear then press Home on your Sky Q remote.

    Once the box has restarted most features will work, but some may take up to five minutes.

    If you're still having problems, try connecting via Bluetooth instead.
