Picture problems on Sky Q

Fix picture problems on your Sky Q box

Checks to make for problems such as picture pixelation or interference on screen:

See if the TV Guide is affected

Press Home on your Sky Q remote, and select TV Guide

If you're seeing the same problem, go to Try another HDMI socket on your TV below.

If only the TV picture is affected, try the following steps.

Try another TV channel

If only one channel is affected, the problem is likely to be with the particular broadcaster. Try again in a few minutes.

Severe weather could be affecting your service

Please wait for the weather to return to normal. Snow and ice can also affect the signal if lying on your dish.

Check Sky's service status

To check for any network problems in your area, go to Service Status.

If you're still having problems, go to Try another HDMI socket on your TV.

  • Try another HDMI socket on your TV

    If your TV has more than one HDMI socket, follow the steps below:

    1. Plug your Sky Q box's HDMI cable into a different HDMI socket on your TV.
    2. Press the Input button on your Sky Q remote to select the new TV input

    If you’re still having problems, go to Try a direct connection between your Sky Q box and TV.

  • Try a direct connection between your Sky Q box and TV
    If your Sky Q box is connected to a speaker system or device other than your TV, try connecting your HDMI cable directly between your box and your TV.

    If your picture looks normal, there may be a problem with the device you've just disconnected. Contact the manufacturer for advice.

    If you’re still having problems, go to Restart your Sky Q box and check the cables.

  • Restart your Sky Q box and check the cables

    1. Switch your Sky Q box off at the mains.
    2. Check that both ends of all cables are securely connected.
    3. Switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
    4. Wait for the onscreen instructions to disappear then press Home on your Sky Q remote.
