Setting up your Sky Q box

Connecting your Sky Q box to your broadband router

Follow the instructions below or in the palm of your hand using the My Sky app. Download it free, today*.

Make sure your broadband router is set up and working correctly. Then, on your Sky Q remote, press Home, select Settings followed by Setup and Network. Check that Connection to broadband router and Connection to internet are both ticked.

If you've previously connected to another broadband network, select Reset then follow the on screen instructions to connect to your broadband router.

  • If you have a Sky Q Booster
    Reset your Booster by pressing and holding the reset button on the back for up to ten seconds until the power light flashes.

    After it restarts wait for the wireless light to turn solid green, then press the WPS button on your Sky Q box for three seconds. The button will flash amber. Within two minutes, press and hold WPS on your Sky Q Booster for three seconds.

    After a short wait, the connected light will turn green. 

  • If you have a Sky Q Mini box

    On each Sky Q Mini box go to the Home screen, select Settings, then Setup, followed by Network. Highlight Status then select Reset and when prompted, Confirm. Then follow the on screen instructions to reconnect your Sky Q Mini box.

    Make sure that's worked by checking you can watch TV on the Sky Q Mini box.

    If not, go to your Sky Q box and press Home on your Sky Q remote, then select Settings, then Status. Check that Network Connection and Watch on Sky Q Mini box are both ticked. If they are, you're all set up.

    If Network Connection shows a ✖, go to Connect by searching for your Wi-Fi network.

    If Watch on Sky Q Mini box shows a ✖, make a note of the message and contact us.
