Yorkshireman Jason was the first British chef to complete a stage at Spain's famous elBulli restaurant in 1998

Since then he has worked with some of the best in the business, including Pierre Koffmann, Nico Ladenis, and Marco Pierre White. 

In 2001 Jason joined the Gordon Ramsay Group as the executive chef for Verre in Dubai. Then, in 2005, Jason returned to the UK to open Maze in London. Alongside Gordon, Jason oversaw the launch of Maze restaurants in Cape Town, Melbourne, Prague and Qatar, as well as Maze Grill, which sits alongside Maze in Covent Garden.

Going it alone

Jason left Ramsay's company in 2010 and launched his own restaurant company, Jason Atherton Ltd, and his flagship restaurant, Pollen Street Social, opened in April 2011. 

Within a year of opening Pollen Street Social gained a Michelin star and since then has received a slew of awards including three of the coveted AA Rosette. Time Out have quoted it as 'London's best new fine-dining restaurant' and it's been named Best New Restaurant by Good Food Guide.

He's since opened another two restaurants in London, and restaurants in Asia.

A TV winner
In 2008, Jason won BBC2's Great British Menu, where the judges included legendary restaurateur Prue Leith. He returned to Great British Menu in 2009 and 2010 as a host. 

Jason is now a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen, where he cooks up a storm alongside host James Martin.
