Review

Along with The Client, this superb thriller is easily one of the best of John Grisham's courtroom dramas, inspiring director Francis Ford Coppola back to his finest form.

A giant insurance company denies the claim of a youth dying from leukaemia, and the case falls into the lap of bright young attorney Matt Damon, about to take his bar exams.

Jon Voight enjoys himself as the supremely slimy, ace defence lawyer and Damon is first rate in the Tom Cruise-type role, at the head of a star-studded cast that includes Claire Danes as a battered wife he shelters, Danny DeVito as Damon's colleague and Mickey Rourke as a seedy ambulance-chasing Memphis lawyer.
