Steve Martin stars as a smalltown fire chief with a nose for trouble in Fred Schepisi's comedy update of the classic romance Cyrano De Bergerac. Smitten by new-girl-in-town Roxanne (Daryl Hannah) but painfully aware of his almighty hooter, station chief CD Bales (Martin) channels his poetry through a hunky but dim deputy (Rick Rossovich). But can Roxanne see that these two books don't match their covers? While turning in his most charming performance, Martin never fails to bring on the funny; the scene where he has to come up with 20 nose jokes is comic gold: "Laugh and the world laughs with you; sneeze, and it's goodbye Seattle!"
