Gerard Butler is the washed-up soccer star who, in an attempt to win back his ex-wife (Jessica Biel), takes over as coach of his son's football team. But while the kids are impressed by his skills on the pitch, his talents also make him a target for every soccer mom in town. Dennis Quaid, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Uma Thurman form an impressive squad on the touchlines of this free-kicking romantic comedy.
Gerard Butler ditches the American accent and retains his Scottish brogue for the role of George, a former soccer star who's fallen on hard times.
He pitches up in small-town Virginia out of a job but keen intent to get to know his young son Lewis (Lomax) and possibly winning back his ex-wife Stacie (the impressive Biel).
However, she's set to marry reliable (read boring) regular guy Matt (Tupper) and even if she was interested she faces red-hot competition from a trio of Butler-addicted hotties.
There's Catherine Zeta-Jones' flirt-mistress Denise, a perfectly coiffured ex-sports anchor, whose promise to hook George up with ESPN is merely a ruse to get him all to herself and out of the clutches of rival hussies.
Then there's Judy Greer's desperate single mom perpetually on the brink of tears and Uma Thurman's Patti, a social climber who figures bedding Butler will get her even with corporate pillock of a husband Carl (Denis Quaid).
The fair-minded George isn't really a match for any of these voracious harpies...so which one will manage to sink her claws into him?
