After experiencing what they think are a series of break-ins, a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realise that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem. More things go bump in the night as the found-footage horror franchise moves on with director Tod Williams at the helm and original Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli becoming producer.
The no-budget, low-tech wow factor of the heart-stopping original is ramped up for this second outing of the malevolently invisible spirit.
New mum Kristi (Sprague) is bringing baby Hunter home for the first time with evey step being filmed by proud-as-punch pop Brian (Boland).
The first surprise is the arrival of Kristi's sister Katie (Featherstone) from the original movie...but then we learn the events playing out take place two months before the climax of the previous film.
The action has been expanded, the characters increased and the volume racked up with no less than six security cameras capturing something unholy sweeping into the large, modern house.
Cleverly, baby Hunter is used to clock phenomena missed by the adults around him while an ethnic nanny (Vivis) knows instinctively that something bad is happening...but no-one will listen.
