Review

Comedian George Formby, the toothy lad from Wigan, was at his British top box-office peak when this comedy was made. He plays a naive young barber who gets involved in a high-standard gymnastics competition to try and win the love of a glamorous manicurist. Guy Middleton, as Hector, George's rival in love, is a comic bounder in the finest Terry-Thomas tradition. It's a bouncy, confidently made comedy that's fun throughout and pretty hilarious in its boxing-ring conclusion.
