Synopsis

John Hughes' superlative slapstick comedy stars Macaulay Culkin as young scamp Kevin who's accidentally left behind when his family goes away for Christmas... which means easy pickings for sneaky burglars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, or so they think. Unfortunately for them, the kid is smarter than they'll ever be. As the eye-wateringly funny battle of wits ensues, jazz musician John Candy does his bit to help reunite Kevin's frantic mum (Catherine O'Hara) with her little boy.

Review

A genuine box-office blast featuring Macaulay Culkin as an eight-year-old boy who's left behind by his parents when they fly off on a Christmas holiday to Paris.

It's home invasion tween-style when burglars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern turn up and force Macaulay to go on the defensive...with anything that comes to hand.

How he does so leads to a series of violent jokes that make it no mere coincidence that a shaven-headed Pesci looks like a refugee from The Three Stooges.
