Excitement scales new heights in this Amazon adventure starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight. A documentary film crew encounters a deadly giant snake in the Brazilian rainforest - and naturally, they don't all make it home. Goggling effects and a wonderfully over-the-top performance from Jon Voight as a crazy jungle guide make this a cult classic. Feel the squeeze.
There haven't been many giant snake movies and this one turns out to be a mixture of turgidity and frenzied excitement.
The anaconda attack effects, though, are simply sensational, well worth waiting for and amply compensate for the sluggish voyage down the Amazon that precedes them.
Otherwise it's formula stuff, lifted somewhat by a wonderfully over-the-top performance from Jon Voight which completely overshadows his co-stars Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube.
But it's the execution of the action that takes the breath away, especially one shot of the pipeline-sized snake swooping down on a man attempting to escape its jaws by diving off the top of a waterfall.
