Steve Hargrave, at the Oscars in Los Angeles

Rule number one to survival in Hollywood: please try to not take yourself too seriously.

It's hard admittedly in a world full of yes men, and people who will pander to your every desire.

But please, do keep some level of sanity about this. It's only showbiz after all.

So before we dive head first into the most serious of all award shows, it's time to take our annual look at the other side of the coin, and celebrate the worst movies that Hollywood has spewed out over the last twelve months.

Yes, welcome to the Golden Raspberries - or Razzies as they are affectionately known.

The Razzies have been going for 28 years now, the brainchild of an excitable large sweaty man by the name of John Wilson.

It's always held the day before the Oscars, to a small crowd in Los Angeles.

Unsurprisingly stars rarely attend to pick up their prizes, although Halle Berry was a famous exception when she accepted her worst actress award for Catwoman a few years back.

This year the main prizes were shared between two names you will probably recognise.

Eddie Murphy was awarded three prizes for his highly annoying comedy Norbit.

The actor picked up Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor and, rather impressively, Worst Supporting Actress - no doubt awarded for his fat-suit enhanced insistence on playing pretty much every character in the universally slammed film.

The big winner was a film called I Know Who Killed Me, whose quality can best be summed up by the fact that it failed to win mainstream release in the UK.

The movie won a record eight Razzies, including a handful for Lindsay Lohan.

She managed the unenviable feat of sharing the Worst Actress Award with herself for her turn in the film, in which she plays two characters who may or may not be the same person.

If that sounds silly, that's because it is. Although the irony is, now Lindsay's scored big at the Razzies, more of us will probably want to see I Know Who Killed Me for comedy value alone.

Secretly the film's producers are probably smiling right now.
