Kay Burley has been in journalism since she was 17. She worked in newspapers and radio before moving to television.

She joined Sky in November 1988 and three months later launched the Sky One Entertainment Channel with her own documentary "The Satellite Revolution

One of the original Sky News line-up, Kay has presented most of the regular slots on Sky News and currently anchors 1-5pm with co-presenter Mark Longhurst.

Hosting more live television than most, Kay was live on air when the second aircraft slammed into the World Trade Centre in New York.

Sky News won a coveted Bafta for its coverage of that event.

Other breaking news stories Kay has covered include the Gulf War, the crisis in Afghanistan, the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, the crash and subsequent relaunch of Concorde, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the deaths of Her Majesty the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

In addition to breaking news, Kay has interviewed a wide range of names from the worlds of politics, sport and entertainment.

Mum to Alexander, who was born in 1993, Kay wrote a light-hearted book about pregnancy.

Kay recently beat off the likes of Jennifer Anniston and Gillian Anderson to be voted the Most Desirable Woman in the World, for the third year running. Kay was delighted, Alexander was embarrassed.
