Reality TV star and rocker Ted Nugent has seriously injured his leg with a chainsaw.

Nugent, 55, was on the set of his VH-1 show Surviving Nugent: The Ted Commandments, when the accident happened.

He needed 40 stitches to close a huge gash and a leg brace to help with healing.

The rocker is recovering from his injury but is continuing filming his television series, which shows a group of city slickers trying their hand at country living on Nugent's ranch near Waco in Texas.

The winner of the show, which is due to be broadcast on US television in the spring, will walk away with a $100,000 (£56,040) prize.

Nugent has courted controversy with his right-wing views and his backing of fire arms and hunting.
