Brideshead Revisited star Anthony Andrews is recovering after overdosing on water, according to his agent.
Andrews is recovering
The 55-year-old drank several litres which sparked a salt imbalance.
Andrews, who played Sebastien Flyte in the series based on the Evelyn Waugh novel, is hoping to return to the West End for his role as Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady.
His agent Penny Wesson said: "He's out of the clinic now and we expect him back in the show in the next few days.
"It seems to have been a combination of the hot weather, the fact he was drinking so much water and perspiring as well as performing.
"It does affect you if you drink too much and perspire without replacing the salt in your system," she said.
The condition, known as hyponatraemia, is caused by the dilution of sodium in the body and has similar symptoms to dehydration, such as headaches, nausea and cramps.
