But he wasn't alone. The hellraising rocker came joint first in the survey, next to ex-Spice girl Mel C.

The pair's unlikely runner-up is pop idol Gareth Gates - a favourite with teenage girls.

And coming in close behindare fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and Tory MP Anne Widdecombe.

Even Prime Minister Tony Blair is on the list.

But noticeable absentees from the list include Ken Dodd and Esther Rantzen, both famous for their goofy smiles.

Pierce Brosnan has the best set of teeth in Britain, together with by Liz Hurley.

In America, Brad Pitt and toothy Julia Roberts have the best gnashers.

But leading man President George Bush was top of list for the worst smiles in America.

He was joint top with Chelsea Clinton.

The survey had been commissioned by toothbrush makers Salton Europe.
