Police have recovered what could be a large amount of the money stolen in the Kent security depot heist.

The cash was found in a white Ford Transit van discovered in a hotel car park in Ashford.

Officers took away two large black plastic bags - thought to be full of money.

The discovery of the van followed a tip-off from a member of the public.

The news comes after detectives released an e-fit of a man suspected of playing a crucial role in the raid which netted up to £50m.

Police say the suspect had a scruffy ginger beard - which may be fake - and is about 6ft tall.

He was one of two gang members who posed as police officers to abduct Colin Dixon - manager of the Securitas depot in Tonbridge.

Police have now recovered four vehicles thought to be involved in the raid. These are:

:: A Volvo car thought to have been used to abduct Mr Dixon was found on fire in the village of Leeds, near Maidstone;

:: Mr Dixon's silver Nissan Almera;

:: A red van with Parcelforce graphics stuck on the side thought to have been used in the abduction of Mr Dixon's wife Lynn and son Craig; and

:: the white Ford Transit van.

The white Renault lorry used to transport the cash is still missing.

All three people arrested in connection with the raid have now been released on police bail.

This includes a 41-year-old woman was arrested at a Building Society in Bromley on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

She is suspected of trying to deposit £6,000 which is being linked to the raid.

A man, 29, and a 31-year-old woman have also been bailed.

They were arrested in the Forest Hill area of south London on Thursday evening on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

A reward of up to £2m has been offered to help police catch the "gangsters" responsible for the robbery.
