Oscar Frocks For Mutts

It all started when various celebrities starting going crazy for a tiny pet dog...

Then they started dressing them in cute coats, taking them out to dinner or showbiz events and generally treating the chihuahuas or similar like mini humans.

But the latest fad for pocket size celeb dogs has to take the biscuit.

A New York designer has gone one step further by producing miniature canine gowns of three of this year's Oscar dresses.

Ada Nieves said of her doggy frocks: "I thought I'd just have a little fun."

Her fun included dressing Vanilla Salt the chihuahua in replicas of Kate Winslet's pale blue Badgley Mischka gown, Penelope Cruz's lemon Oscar De La Renta creation and Renee Zellweger's striking red dress.

The poor mutt looks ever so slightly humiliated posing on the red carpet - check out the pics above.
