Ann Montini's Come Dancing Special

Our TV and soap guru's a big fan of Saturday hit show Strictly Come Dancing - big enough that she managed to sneak a ticket to the final!

Here she reveals a few of the show's secrets...

  • Over 100 bottles of fake tan were used during Strictly Come Dancing.
  • The dress designers work with the star they are dressing...and yes, the stars do get to keep the costumes!
  • Tess Daly, who was off having her first child when the series began, is now back. She proved just how popular she was, with over 1,000 cards from devoted fans.
  • Bruce Forsyth has a new album, Strictly Come Dancing, which has already gone gold. Another album is planned, with stars who sang on the show duetting with the ever-youthful Brucie.
  • The whole production takes three days to set up in the famous Tower Ballroom - and it takes just as long to pull it all down. There are plans for the whole series to come from there in the next series.
  • Voting is very strict and what you don't see on TV is the judges arguing with the production staff over their scores. Arlene told my mole: "They seem to forget - we're the main reason the show is successful!"
  • On the final night, panic set in for Esther Rantzen when her stunning red wig was lost...but later found in a carrier bag backstage. She told me: "I love my new look - I think it makes me look younger."
  • Carol Vorderman refused to come to the final show, claiming she was busy. I am told she feared incurring the wrath of Arlene Phillips again and thought it best to stay away.
  • Plans to have a special, soap-only Come Dancing show are well underway - Antony Cotton, who plays camp machine operator Sean in Corrie, has been asked if he would like to join the next series.
  • The new Strictly Come Dancing DVD, which features first series winners Natasha and Brendan, has gone gold in the DVD charts.
  • Guest on the last night enjoyed a massive after-show drinks party, complete with delicious food. Some stars wanted to go up the famous Blackpoool Tower, but high winds from the North Sea unfortunately ruled it out.
  • The BBC's so keen to keep Bruce and Tess as partners that a new, three-year deal is now been offered to keep Bruce on-screen until he's 80. Wow!
