One star jumps to mind immediately - Paris Hilton is rarely seen carrying a large bag without her decorated pet pooch inside.

And whether they're shopping, walking up a red carpet or appearing at a sports game, celebrities can't go without dragging their pets along.

Most of them predictably choose a designer yapper that would fit neatly into their handbag. Portia de Rossi? You know you're guilty.

Fewer - tennis player Andy Roddick and Twin Peaks star Kyle Maclachlan - go for good old-fashioned mutts that won't embarrass them in public.

And the odd one or two - Fresh Prince star James Avery - pick out the big boys.

But whatever their choice of breed, we have one message for stars who insist on dressing up their pets like dolls: You look ridiculous!
