Patrick Swayze’s rep has confirmed to Sky Showbiz that the actor is suffering from cancer.
But they call the reports he’s only got five months left to live as "untrue".
The statement released to Sky Showbiz contained a quote from Patrick’s physician Dr George Fisher, saying: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far.
"All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."
His rep concluded: "Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects.
"The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
Last month Patrick had undergone a gastrointestinal procedure at Stanford University Medical Center and was "home and happy" following the procedure.
The 55 year old has just finished filming the movie Powder Blue starring alongside Jessica Biel and Lisa Kudrow and had wrapped on TV movie The Beast in which he plays an FBI Agent.
