Irish Star Denies Assault

Irish heartthrob Jonathan Rhys-Meyers has dismissed reports that he beat up his 18-year-old girlfriend, Reena Hammer.

The Match Point actor and his girl were arrested last January on suspicion of assaulting each other, but Jonathan says no punches were thrown.

According to iMDB, he said: "We were having a bit of a screaming match and the neighbours called the cops because they didn't know who was screaming.

"We went down to the station, gave our apologies to the neighbours, and the neighbours said that was grand."

The couple are still going strong, although his track record for loyalty is less than perfect.

He told New magazine: "I've only had one girlfriend (my current one), who I didn't cheat on.

"Men are like that. No matter how many times you eat pasta, some night you're going to want steak."

But he had high praise for Reena, daughter of make-up supremo Ruby Hammer.

He said: "She's very, very sensitive. She's very, very beautiful. She's very tough.

"I don't fancy weak women, regardless of how physically beautiful they are.

"I prefer to be in a relationship with somebody that I love very much and that's close and sensitive and comforting than to f*** a different supermodel every week. That has no appeal whatsoever."

Despite the noble sentiment, we don't think Reena should expect too much in the romance department while he's busy working though.

He explained: "I'm not really the sending-flowers type. I'm not very romantic.

"A nice box of chocolates once a month is always good when you can't be there to shag your girlfriend, though!"

Hmmm... our initial shock seems to have given way to the appeal of a box of chocs EVERY month.
