Getting Lost and the last series of Six Feet Under on screen ahead of the autumn schedule was a brave move, but kept us going in an otherwise desperately quiet time. But now - rejoice! There's some seriously good telly kicking off...
So we recommend you print this page out and give yourself a good 10 minutes to build your planner and get those Sky+ series links going. This is TV that's too good to miss.
Weeds - 10pm, Sky One, Tuesdays from 11 October - Mary-Louise Parker stars as a recently widowed Californian who turns to dealing marijuana to her neighbours - who have bigger secrets than smoking pot...
Nip/Tuck Series 3 - 10pm, Sky One, Sundays from 16 October - A new season, a new wrinkle or three. Just who is The Carver? Is Christian OK? We've been hanging on this particular cliff for months...
The Match - 7pm, Sky One, 9 October, with training every night this week - Celebs up against the pros again at St James' Park in what proved to be a highly successful show last year. Check out our gallery for more.
Bleak House - BBC1 from October - Gillian Anderson, Charles Dance, Alistair McGowan and 'Enders murderess Charlie Brooks bring Dickens to life with a fab new period drama. Filmed in half-hour soap-style episodes, which'll make a change from feature-length dramas.
Shakespeare - BBC1 from October - The Beeb gives a modern twist to Shakespeare as it did to the Canterbury Tales. Macbeth, starring Keeley Hawes and James McAvoy, is set in a restaurant; A Midsummer Night's Dream, with Johnny Vegas as Bottom, takes place in a holiday park; The Taming Of The Shrew looks at the world of politics; and in Much Ado About Nothing, Sarah Parrish and Damian Lewis are presenters on a regional news show with weathergirl Billie Piper.
Threshold - Sky One from November - Prepare for the worst-case scenario - alien invasion. That's the stupendous task given to Dr Caffrey (Sin City's Carla Gugino) and gang in Operation Threshold as they await first contact. Eerie, chilling, gripping...Check it out.
If you're wondering about new series of The OC, Desperate Housewives, Doctor Who, Joey or even Marple - sorry, they're not back till next year. But we'll give you another update at Christmas...
ALREADY STARTED
Jade's Salon - 9pm, Living TV, Mondays from 12 September - Jade Goody has become the wealthiest BB star and this shows why - she's sassy enough to do what she's good at. Living TV follows her as she opens her salon, Ugly's (we won't pass judgement), and entices minor celebs through the doors. Jade would love Cath Zeta-Jones and Jerry Hall; our Ann Montini tells us Jodie Marsh was straight on the phone but was a bit "D-list". Worth watching just to hear some more howling Jade-isms.
Hex - 9pm, Sky One, Sundays from 18 September - New (gorgeous) student Ella's on hand to help Cassie find out more about her demon lovechild in the second series. Seriously sexy Buffy replacement show.
Britain's Next Top Model - 9pm, Living TV, Wednesdays from 14 September - Great format from American TV - the victor wins a modelling contract with Models 1, a cosmetics campaign with Ruby & Millie and a magazine fashion shoot. Presented by former model Lisa Butcher, there could be fireworks from this show.
Kept - 6pm and 10.30pm, VH1, Sundays (already started) - Jerry Hall's raunchy new show sees 12 dishy young fellas fighting it out to become her very own toyboy. The winner gets a Jag, a flat and an American Express Gold Card. The ad was saucy enough to be banned by London Underground for depicting men as sexual objects - certainly caught our attention.
Totally Scott-Lee - 9pm, MTV, Sundays (already started) - MTV follow former Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee as she tries to forge a solo career, as well as the rest of the family - new hubby and Hear'Say singer Johnny Shentall, her brother Andy and his girlfriend Michelle Heaton (Liberty X), as well as manager and former boy band member Nathan Moore. Already proving a success for MTV with ratings of 0.6m.
The Green Green Grass - 9pm, BBC1, Fridays from 16 September - Boycie and Marlene spin off from Only Fools, quitting London for a Shropshire farm after Boycie gets in trouble with some Peckham gangsters. Could be a fantastic substitute for Only Fools - but we'll miss Del Boy.
Spooks - 9pm, BBC1, Mondays from 12 September - The MI5 drama returns for fourth series with the team reeling after Danny's death. Now Adam (Rupert Penry-Jones) and the new dish, Zafar (Raza Jaffrey) come up against a London bomb plot. Martine McCutcheon makes her first Brit TV appearance since 'Enders in a guest role in the two-part special that kicks off the new series.
