Lots of people go through phases as a youngster, before seeing the error of their ways (at this point we can admit to a goth-inspired tassled skirt and tie-dye phase).
And so it seems Madonna is no different.
However, Madonna's transformation has been more dramatic than most...
This is the star who came to the fore, with pointy bras, punky hair, bad make-up and a serious amount of attitude ladled with overt sexuality.
So, to now see her dressed in demure chiffon frocks and cashmere cardis, whilst throwing corn for her chickens to eat... seems a bit odd.
But as part of a spread for US Vogue magazine, Madge has revealed her new look, posing in the grounds of her English country estate that she shares with hubby Guy Richie and two children Lourdes, 8, and Rocco, 4.
The 46-year-old singer admits that she is very different from how she used to be back in the days of In Bed With Madonna.
"I was a very selfish person. You go through periods of your life where the world does revolve around you, but you can't live your whole life that way.
"On the other hand, I kind of admire my spunk and directness!"
She claims that she never thought she'd end up living the life she's living - in her swanky 1000-acre estate in Wiltshire.
"The last thing I thought I would do is marry some laddish, shooting, pub-going nature lover.
"And the last thing he thought he was going to do was marry some cheeky girl from the Midwest who doesn't take no for an answer. But now I love England and want to be here and not in America. I see England as my home."
We trace Madonna's amazing change from leather-loving, punky chick to classy family-loving lady with a penchant for cashmere.
