David Furnish has slammed all and sundry for claiming Elt refused to greet guests at his recent charity event. In fact, says David, they meeted and greeted for so long they missed dinner...

Some newspapers claimed on arrival people were told not to talk to the Rocket Man unless he approached them at his annual White Tie And Tiara Party in Windsor, Berks.

Not so, says an incandescent David.

"The reality is that we go out of our way to try and greet every guest at our fundraising events personally," he said.

"We spend two hours in the gardens during the cocktails shaking hands and greeting guests.

"During dinner, we walk around the marquee and try to speak to every table to make sure everyone is happy.

"Neither of us have time to eat our meals because we are so busy saying hello to everyone.

"Attempting to paint Elton as some trumped-up celebrity who is above looking after people who support our charity - the Elton John Aids Foundation - is deeply, deeply offensive."

The Beckhams, Elle Macpherson and Rod Stewart were among the stars who attended the event.
