Dallas star Howard Keel - who played tough guy Clayton Farlow in the soap - has died aged 85.
The actor lost his battle with cancer of the colon on Sunday.
Keel romanced his way through a series of big MGM musicals in the 1940s and 1950s.
But he is probably best known for his role in the hugely successful 80s show of oil, greed, lust and big stetsons.
He became a household name at the age of 66 - just as he was winding down his career - when he took the role of Farlow in 1981.
Keel was rushed into the soap as a strong presence to battle evil JR Ewing, following the death of Jim Davis, who played Jock Ewing.
Farlow, whose character married 'Miss Ellie' Ewing, stayed with the soap until it's demise in 1991.
Later he said: "Dallas was enoromous. I couldn't believe it. My life changed again. From being out of it I was suddenly a star.
"I was known to more people than ever before. Wherever I went crowds appeared again."
