Sky Go Extra and Sky Go - what's the difference?
Sky Go Extra allows you to watch Sky TV shows on up to 4 different devices, 2 more than Sky Go. It also lets you download a selection of your favourite TV to watch wherever and whenever.
How do I get Sky Go Extra at no additional cost?
If you are already a subscriber to Sky Multiscreen, you will need to opt-in Sky Go Extra to your account from this page. If you are a new customer, you will need to sign up to Sky Multiscreen first, then add Sky Go Extra.
Can I download programmes to my device?
To download programmes onto your device you will need to be a Sky Go Extra customer.
How do I download programmes to my device?
To download you will need a Wi-Fi connection. Programmes cannot be downloaded over 3G.
Where do I find downloadable programmes?
Downloadable movies and programmes can be found in the 'Catch Up' section of the app. Just look for the ‘Download’ button when you visit a programme or season details page to see if that programme can be downloaded.
Are all programmes available to download?
Not all programmes that appear in 'Catch up' in Sky Go can be downloaded.
How many programmes can I download at once?
Only one programme can be downloaded at a time, but you can queue downloads. These will then appear in the ‘In Progress’ section of ‘Downloads’. As soon as the first download has completed the next programme in the queue will then start downloading.
Are there different download expiry times for different programmes?
Yes - movies that are downloaded can be kept on your device for up to 30 days once the download is complete. Any other content (from Entertainment and Kids) can only be kept on the device for seven days before it will expire.
Can I watch my downloaded programmes offline?
Yes, any programmes that you have downloaded can be watched offline, with no 3G or Wi-Fi connection required. However, whilst the app is offline you will not be able to access either the ‘On Now’ or ‘Catch Up' sections of the app.
How much storage space will the programmes I have downloaded take up?
This will depend on whether you choose to download in high or low quality (found in Settings > Preferences) and the length of the programme. A high-quality film on an iPad will take up approximately 1.1GB of data, whilst a high-quality film on an iPhone will take approximately 750MB of data.
How do I delete downloaded programmes?
You can delete any programmes you have downloaded in Downloads by either swiping on the programme to reveal the delete icon or by pressing the ‘Edit’ button to delete multiple programmes.

Sky boxes and set-up
Box set-up times currently average 7-10 days for new customers and may be longer for existing customers upgrading to Sky+HD (excludes Highlands & Islands, Channel Islands, Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, ROI).
Standard set-up of Sky+HD box is £30 when you join Sky TV online; free for existing customers with a new Multiscreen subscription (otherwise £60 or £15 for Sky+ customers selecting self set-up).
Existing Sky TV customer: Sky Broadband set-up fees for existing Sky TV customers £60 for Lite, £30 for Connect or free for Unlimited. £30 set-up fee for Connect for customers without Sky TV.
Self set-up: Available to Sky+ customers for £15. Self set-up must be completed within 31 days of receipt.
Sky+HD box: Existing Sky+ box households are not eligible for a discounted box unless taking the Family Bundle. Existing customers must agree to new 12 month minimum term for Sky TV. One free/discounted box per household. Sky+HD box up to £199 if you are not eligible for discounted price (Sky TV subscription required). A Sky+HD box has all the features of Sky+ and can store an average of 60 hours of HD or 185 hours of standard definition programmes. To view free-to-air HD content you need an HD ready TV. To view Sky HD content you will also need the Family Bundle and, for Sky Sports/Sky Movies in HD, the HD Pack (£5.25 a month on top of your sports/movies subscription).
Sky+HD 2TB box: Existing Sky TV customers who have never had a Sky+HD box taking the Family Bundle and existing Sky TV customers with the Family Bundle or other Sky HD subscription adding Sky Multiscreen (£11.25pm per box) are entitled to one Sky+HD 2TB box for £49. Existing Sky TV customers with the Family Bundle or other Sky HD subscription and new customers joining Sky TV with the Family Bundle are entitled to one Sky+HD 2TB box for £149. One discounted box per household. Additional Sky+HD 2TB boxes £249 per box. First box free for new and existing customers when taken with their first Sky Multiscreen/Multiroom subscription and paying for set-up.
